Christmas Eve Peek

I have more awesome images from our Christmas Eve visit from Santa, but I had to quickly post this one until I can finish the rest. When I compare this image to the mall photos that even I was tempted to purchase, I am SO pleased that I didn't! I love the unusual angle and all the genuine expressions in this image. It makes me happier than a kid on Christmas morning... I love my job!!!

The Field is White

Below is one of those rare post-production gems. I had to take a couple mug shots for his mission president, and after reviewing them, I totally fell in love with the light and expression in this one. I feel like it has so much story in it, and transcends its original purpose to the point of becoming a really unique work of art! It completely satisfied my need to be creative and expressive this week. Thanks for your amazing mug, B!
This guy is pretty darn awesome, and I know I'll probably embarrass him by saying that, but it's true. I have watched him grow from a shy teen to a confident, impressive young man. I wish him the best of luck in the next couple years as well as the rest of his life. I have no doubt he'll succeed in anything he wants to!

Welcome to the land of the living!

I made it, and I'm two days early! My lab's deadline for Christmas prints is Monday, so I've been working like a mad woman, shut up in front of my computer for months, it seems. And now I get to come up and enjoy the rest of the holidays with everyone! Yeah! I still have plenty of work to do, but at least all the gifts are done and I don't have such a crunchy deadline looming over my head.

I've been dying to post this session since it happened several weeks ago. I wanted to wait, however, until my Christmas Cards went out so I wouldn't spoil the surprise. What is the absolute best thing about being a photographer? The fabulous portraits I get of my own kids! What is the absolute best thing about photographing my own kids? I only have myself to please. This session was a riot, if you can't tell. I started out trying to pose them and get those great smiles, but as it often does, the session started to morph to THEIR idea of how things were going to go down. I don't mind at all, in fact these are some of my favorite images I have of my kids. This one makes my cup runneth over.... *SIGH* I'm so in love with these little people.
This was what they gave me when I instructed them to "relax your faces!"
Photographing a 2-year old is always an adventure... you gotta click on this one.
She looks so much like me in the one on the right, it's quite alarming.
I had so many faces of this one I had a really hard time deciding on which one to use.
"The Epiphany"
Here's the card for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Complete with an extremely annoyed Serafina the cat. He (yes, HE) was NOT happy about this crazy costume and being forced to stay in one spot. I owe him big time...

By the way, the color saturation level appears to be off on this post. If you click each image, they look much better!

For Photographers Too!

I just wanted to mention that my Switzerland calendars are not just for sale for clients. I know I have two or three photographer friends who may be interested in an hour of complimentary Photoshop instruction instead of a complimentary session. I would be more than willing to throw that in with the purchase of a calendar!

Only a Dozen Left!

I'm going to toot my horn about these awesome Switzerland calenders again, because it's not really my own horn I'm trying to toot, but the Make-A-Wish Foundation's horn (I know, that was a really bizarre sentence.) For those of you who don't know, this past fall, my niece and her family were treated like royalty by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in a dream vacation to Disney World and other Florida sites. It has been one of the really amazing experiences in our family that has touched me personally and inspired me to raise funds to donate back. I have taken thirteen images from my trip to Switzerland this summer and created a one-of-a-kind, European-styled calendar that is available for only $24.99 (plus tax and shipping if applicable.)

Anyway, I currently only have 12 calendars left, and I really really really want to sell all of them so I can donate the total $350 to the M-A-W Foundation. So, for all you last minute shoppers out there (I know it's only the 4th, but lets face it - 3 weeks is NOT a long time.) I am offering a phenomenal deal:

The last 12 calendars will come with a gift certificate for a COMPLIMENTARY photo session. This is a $125-$200 value! The certificates will be valid until March 31, 2009. Both the calendar and the gift certificate will make a perfect gift, so don't miss this chance to score both for only $24.99! I can't even feed my family good Chinese take-out for that price. Most importantly, you'll be helping an amazing organization that is making a real difference in people's lives.

By request, I'm going to post all the calendar pages on the blog so you can see how beautiful they turned out. If you have any questions about the calendars, Make-A-Wish Foundation, or the complimentary gift certificate, please let me know: kris@kdportraits.com or (801) 556-1661.

By the way, I was asked this question, so I thought I'd post it here. Because of the nature of this incredible deal, I will NOT be able to accept referral certificates on top of the complimentary sessions.
