What's with the Orchid? (Salt Lake Newborn Photography)

I've said it before - I love making each session different and personal. When the Mom of this sweet 6-day old baby girl called to arrange her newborn portrait, she told me about receiving a beautiful potted orchid as a gift from her co-workers. She also had purchased a basket, and wanted to incorporate these into the portrait session. Of course I calmly expressed that this would be a lovely idea (and inside I'm jumping up and down squealing like a 12-year old.) The results of the last couple of sessions with the customized props have ignited me creatively, and I want MORE! So, I am hosting a "personalized prop" giveaway. Here's how you enter: email me a photo of something that has meaning to you (kris@kdportraits.com.) It can be anything from furniture to toys to jewelry, etc. Then in a brief message, let me know its story, and how you imagine it being used to create an heirloom portrait. Here are some more of the yummy engagement images of J&J. It was early, it was freezin' cold, it was a grey, cloudy day, but do you think these two cared at all? Oh, no - they were PLENTY warm, folks! Stay tuned for J's bridal session. I won't give too much away, but I will say that we're headin on up to the ranch.... (giddy photographer!!) Two-fer (Utah Newborn Photography, Twins)

I did a model call for a newborn baby boy, just so I could photograph this awesome hat I bought from the girls at Little Daisy. One of my wonderful clients said she knew a friend who was having twins, and would I be interested in calling her? Uh… YEAH! I’ve always wanted to photograph newborn twins. I think it’s kind of the “Mount Everest” of portrait photography. At least I felt like I’d just climbed a mountain when I was done… man, twins are hard work! I am so grateful for the patience of these two cuties and their parents. I had so many ideas and visions of how I wanted this session to go down, but I should have known that when working with newborns (especially more than one at a time,) you just have to make the very best with what you are given in each little moment. Thanks again, F family! You guys are truly superhero parents. Wouldn't this make an awesome birth announcement? I may have to do a sample of this even if you don't order it, S, cuz I'm totally in love with
