I went up to Idaho for J's bridal portrait last weekend, and it was windy and cold, but at least it wasn't snowing! We had a great time trying to get the veil to blow just right... or not! I call this one "mummified bride..."
It's always a challenge showing up at a place I've never photographed before and trying to use all the lighting and weather conditions to my advantage. J was such a trooper in the cold! I am really hoping your wedding day is just a bit warmer for you. At least that day you'll have someone to snuggle with in the photos. Thanks to the whole fam for a great weekend on the farm. I know my kids had a great time. We'll see everyone in a couple weeks.

Ok, so I am totally intimidated to post my vacation photos on my blog just because I feel like they should be super-spectacular because I'm a professional photographer. The truth is when I'm on vacation, I'm very hesitant to make my kids endure a week-long photo session, so I just take what I can when I can, and hope for the best. I can never bring myself NOT to take pictures, though, because the only way I can remember stuff is by either writing it down or taking a photo of it. I'm a visual-learner that way. At any rate, don't judge me by my vacation snapshots - just look how cute my family is! I LOVE Disneyland. Seriously, Walt wasn't just making a slogan when he dubbed it the Happiest Place on Earth. I imagine Heaven will be quite similar - minus the $4 churros.

This session brought on some SERIOUS nostalgia for me. Growing up, my family consisted of one boy and five girls, and that is the same formula these great folks have. Watching them interact brought back some great memories of my childhood and siblings. Man, I tell you, I have a ton of respect for these parents and the sheer GUTS it takes to raise a large family now-a-days. Keep an eye on that third child... third's tend to be very stubborn and opinionated (oh, yeah, and good looking and creative and talented and humble...) :-)

This session was entirely too much fun. Happy Anniversary, D&L! I love that you chose to have portraits created for your big day. Wouldn't it be cool every decade to have a portrait done of just the two of you, so you can compare them 50 years down the road and say, "Man, we were young then!" I can imagine your 60th wedding anniversary portrait - D in his sunglasses, L still has that amazing infectious smile, and more in love then you are even now. Man, I have the best job in the world!

I did a model call for a newborn baby boy, just so I could photograph this awesome hat I bought from the girls at Little Daisy. One of my wonderful clients said she knew a friend who was having twins, and would I be interested in calling her? Uh… YEAH! I’ve always wanted to photograph newborn twins. I think it’s kind of the “Mount Everest” of portrait photography. At least I felt like I’d just climbed a mountain when I was done… man, twins are hard work! I am so grateful for the patience of these two cuties and their parents. I had so many ideas and visions of how I wanted this session to go down, but I should have known that when working with newborns (especially more than one at a time,) you just have to make the very best with what you are given in each little moment. Thanks again, F family! You guys are truly superhero parents.
Wouldn't this make an awesome birth announcement? I may have to do a sample of this even if you don't order it, S, cuz I'm totally in love with the concept.

I know it's been forever since I posted last. I have been in Disneyland with my kids! Yes, it was fabulous, and hopefully I'll be able to get stuff done for you fine people soon so I can post some vacation pics. I did this session with this gorgeous Mom-to-be-of-three before I left. We had so much fun keeping things real and candid. Thanks B fam for being so willing to be my guinea pigs! I can't wait for the little guy to get here.
