Yes, she brought him along too. (Salt Lake Bridal Portraits)

Lets see, I think it's 9 days and counting 'till the wedding, you guys! I love it when I get a groom along for the ride on the bridal portrait session. It gives me time to create amazing couple portraits without stressing out on the wedding day. I think I've got a total of one hour for all the formal portraits on C&R's big day, and it's just not enough time to create something amazing like this. What can I say, I'm not very superstitious about the "seeing the bride in her gown before the wedding" thing. Thanks, guys, for being up for just about anything. I can't wait for our "bachelor" party the night before.... "HOLD you IN my ARMS, I just wanted to hold you IN my arms!"

Lifeline Community's Charity Event

You're invited to attend the Lifeline Community Charity Event this Saturday, March 27, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. It will be held at 4037 West Nike Drive, West Jordan, UT 84088. Here's how it will work: call Cindy Skaug (801) 280-3126 to schedule a mini session (small groups and/or individual portraits.) The cost is only $15 per pose, and you get an 8x10 portrait of each pose. This is a fantastic opportunity to have portraits created for Mother's Day, of your children's Easter clothes, or just freshen your outdated family portrait.

Lifeline Community is the church of one of my best friends, and they are trying to raise enough money to purchase their own building in which to meet and worship. Ten dollars of every 8x10 sold at this event will go directly to the building fund. We are hoping to raise $1000 at this event, so please spread the word to everyone you know. I feel like it's a modern-day barn raising - so exciting! Space will limit my group sizes to about 6 people (give or take), and payment is due at the event for each pose/8x10. Final prints will be selected by the photographer (it's how I can offer them for such a ridiculously low price - have no fear, I'm very good at picking the best one) and they will be delivered to Lifeline Community for distribution in about 4-6 weeks (if you'd rather your portraits were mailed to your home, you may opt to pay the small shipping fee instead.) Call me if you have any questions! (801) 556-1661 :-) Kris

Grandma's Portraits (Salt Lake Professional Photography)

I've been meeting with a group of photographers who are all trying to get our prints ready for the local and national competitions coming up in the next month. We all have a project - a self assignment - to fulfill each meeting. This past one we were asked to create images with "negative emotions." It's been over 10 years since my Grandma-ma has had a professional portrait created, and my Dad asked if I would do it. I thought "Great! I'll combine this session with my assignment and kill two birds with one stone." Well, Grandma-ma showed up at the studio, and she looked FANTASTIC. She'd had her hair and makeup done, so my idea of creating an image with the emotions "old" and "worn" was pretty much shot to blazes. Then I thought I'd go for "lonely" or "sad", but she was just WAY too happy the whole night. I mean, look at this smile! It wouldn't leave her face. She used to sing opera, and I could tell that the Diva in her was totally loving the whole session. So, after giving up on my group assignment I decided to just capture her as she is, and I got "beautiful", "loving", "joyous" and "satisfied" - which are just fine by me when I think of my granny.

Spring is Blooming!

I can not express the joy I felt as the first of my bulbs bloomed this week. Even though they are the tiniest little flowers, and from a distance they kind of look like litter on my barren patch of dead leaves and tree bark that is supposed to be a flower bed, they still infused my soul with hope and renewed life. Spring is definitely my favorite season of the year, and I can't wait to get out in the sunshine!

You wanna know what else infuses me with joy? Digital Hasselblad. Mmmmmmmmmm....... This beauty has a $6000 rebate program right now, which makes it's $12,000 price tag seem almost out of dream-land. Almost...
