Garden Event Extended (Salt Lake Child Photography)

Due to the immense amount of fun I had tonight in the garden, I have decided to extend my garden event through the end of August.
  • The event is $125, which is required as a deposit when you reserve your session date, and includes $100 portrait credit that you can spend on any finished portraits you would like.
  • All prints and packages will be 10% off the regular prices for garden event clients only.
  • This event will take the place of my annual Back-to-School event.
  • All garden sessions must be scheduled approximately 1 hour before sunset for the best light.
  • The Garden is best for groups of 4 or less.
  • I have a very limited number of garden sessions available, so if you are interested, I suggest you call quickly to reserve an appointment: (801) 556-1661.

I love this awesome baptism dress and the great portraits we created with cute J&J tonight. We had a great time talking Star Wars, American Girl, and boogers... it never fails!

Photography Education at its Finest

Problem: You have been doing photography professionally for many years, and need a spark to reignite your creativity. Or, you are just getting into photography, and you want to know how to take your images to that next level. Or, you just want to know how to elevate the fine-art element in your images. Or, you want to learn how to make money doing all of this crazy art stuff.

Solution: Michael Gan and Leslie Artis-Gan. These two Masters of Photography and multi-award-winning artists are coming to South Jordan on August 2nd to discuss the "Spirit and Soul" of photography, and how to turn it into dollars. The seminar is being hosted by IPPA (Intermountain Professional Photographers Association) but you do not need to be a member to attend this valuable evening of education. I attended Michael and Leslie's workshop in Dillon Beach, CA last year, and the level of my photography, and my understanding of how to tell a story in an image increased so much that I was able to get those four loan prints this year. I'm telling you - you do NOT want to miss it.

The education begins at 2:00 with Jaron Horrocks of Graphic Authority. He will be demonstrating how to do layout and graphic design in Adobe Photoshop. If you do any digital scrapbooking in Photoshop, or want to learn how to create your own custom greeting cards, albums, etc., this class will be immensely helpful. Then Michael and Leslie will begin at 6:00 pm.

The most amazing thing is you can attend both of these seminars for only $59 (member or non-member) or you can choose one for only $49. I went to the movies with my kids last night, and we spent almost twice that. Trust me - this investment will pay for itself if you are in the business of selling photographic images.

**UPDATE** I just found out that Bay Photo Lab, who is sponsoring the event will be giving away a lab credit of $59 to one lucky person, essentially making the event FREE!! To be eligible for the prize, you must PRE-REGISTER by July 30.

Go to this link to register, and I'll see you there!

Your Friendly Neighborhood 8-year-old (Salt Lake Child Photography)

I've been dying to post these for a couple weeks, but had to wait for my Image Seeker's meeting before revealing the big debut. The majority of responses I've gotten so far have been regarding where he got his costume. Isn't it common knowledge that Spidey makes his own costume? **Wink wink, T**

For those who prefer the darker side of Spidey...

One of the most universally appealing things about our web-slinging hero is his humanity and his ability to mess up - hugely sometimes. I was so excited that he was willing to explore this side of himself photographically.

I was having a discussion with my husband about who is my favorite super-hero, and even though that other "Super" guy was high on the list, I still have to give the final trophy to this guy. It's not just that he tries to do the right thing, even though it usually involves sacrificing something of great importance to himself - he's a PHOTOGRAPHER, people. I mean, come on! At the end of the day he's just hoping he can eradicate evil, and sell an image or two to pay the bills. Shoot on, Spidey, shoot on!

Garden Event 2010

I usually host my garden event in the spring, but since I had too much on my plate with dance photos this spring, I have decided to run the event this month instead. Here is the deal: $125 reserves a mini session in my private portrait garden with $100 coming back to you in the form of finished portraits (which ever sizes and/or products you want.) Portrait prices for this event will be 10% off my regular prices listed on the main website. I can only do FOUR of these special sessions - two on July 29th, and two on July 30th - and they must take place at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm on either night (that is when the sweet light kisses the garden.) My regular session deposit is $400, so this is a phenomenal deal. The garden is best for groups of 4 or fewer people. Give me a call or an email to reserve your event appointment, or if you have any questions: (801) 556-1661, or kris@kdportraits.com.

Can't stand the Wait!

Ok, on a completely personal and un-related note, have you seen the trailer for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" yet? Do you think it would be too weird for me to have a count-down on the blog? I've got to start working on our costumes for November! I've finally convinced my red-heads to go as the Weasley's instead of Harry & Hermione, so R&me are going as Arthur and Molly. I need a good crocheted shawl. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone want to come party with us? Anyone have a way to make them release the film sooner?
