You know, sometimes I get so frustrated that I don't have unlimited resources available (aka time and money) to be able to be completely unhindered in my quest for creativity. I know I've expressed my desire to have a "real" studio before. The time I long for it the most is in the winter with large family groups. I've photographed people in their own homes, in the snow, at the City Hall... it just never really works right. The best solution that I've found is to photograph smaller groups in my limited home studio and digitally composite them together. It actually works pretty well! The best part about it is that I can focus on fewer people at a time, and so I get better expressions and can pay more attention to detail. The families I've worked with this way seem to be more relaxed and enjoy the experience more, too. It's really not a bad way to capture a large group. So limited resources or not, I feel like this was a great session! Thanks, W family for being so willing to trudge through the snow and trust my artistic vision!
