Back To School Event 2009

Do you purchase school portraits of your children every year only to be underwhelmed and disappointed when you pull that crinkly package out of their already over-stuffed backpacks? If you've been wanting more from your child's yearly portrait, you need to book an appointment for my Back to School Event. Here are just a few reasons why you'll love this event:
  • Preview and choose your images BEFORE you order. Take a break from the guess-work.
  • All images are fully retouched and perfected before they are sent to my professional lab. No more need to worry about those inevitable scrapes and bruises that always seem to happen RIGHT before picture day. No more anxiety over blemishes or shine.
  • Create your own package. This is the only chance you will have to purchase my high-quality portraits in unit (or "sheet") pricing. A'la carte units are only $21 each.
  • Purchase your digital files for archiving purposes and unlimited printing. This option is not available through my regular portrait services.
  • KD Club Members will receive a complimentary gift-certificate to my Halloween Portrait Event. Buy your school portraits now, get your costume portraits at no charge!

One day only: Friday, August 14. I know, I know - I've had a ton of people ask already if I can do another day, and the answer is no. I'm sorry! My "Christmas" Season starts at the end of the summer, so I really can not afford to set aside more than one day. However, if you can get a group of children together (at least 6 individuals) you can book a portrait party that will have access to the same Back to School portrait packages. Portrait parties will only be available through September 15, so if you're interested in this option, call me a.s.a.p.

Back to School Portrait sessions will be 5-10 minutes long of individual school-age children. No group portraits will be created. If you have a pre-schooler or toddler, you're welcome to sign up; however, I usually spend 1-2 hours photographing young children, and I can not guarantee a two-year-old will cooperate for portraits in just 5 minutes.

Printed portrait packages will range from $35-$85, and I will be offering a digital file package for $115. These prices are per child (except the digital package - it can be split between children), and I require a minimum purchase of $35 per child to reserve your appointment time. This can be taken care of quickly over the phone with a Visa or Mastercard. Here is a complete package listing as well. Just click on it to make it easier to read.

Don't settle for the cookie-cutter school contract photos. Call today to reserve your affordable and professional portrait session: (801) 556-1661.

Ouch, really, $115 for digital artwork on a 15 minute shoot/touch-up and that doesn't include any prints? So for our 4 kids its $460. I never have understood why photographers *cling* to their copyright on family portraits. Guess I'll be looking elsewhere.

Hey, Discouraged Mom,

You can split the digital package between three kids, which means you would have to purchase two packages for your four kids, not four packages. And you don't have to purchase the most expensive package. I don't know of any contract school photographers who offer their images on disk. This is more of an opportunity for you to get professional-quality portraits at extreme discounted pricing.

Professional photographers "cling" onto their digital files for several reasons. The main reason I don't sell digital files for my regular portrait services is because I am a nut case when it comes to the quality of my prints. I don't want a high-school kid at Costco printing images that I spend up to two hours perfecting. I am also very particular about how my prints are finished (texured, mounted, sprayed, etc.) Once my files are out the door, I have no control over how my work is printed and displayed. How could I guarantee my art under those circumstances?

I'm really sorry I won't be able to help you. If you email me, I may be able to give you some names of photographers who might be more in your budget. Thanks for the comment!
